A Safe Place

Couple Counselling

Couple counselling at A Safe Place is attended by both partners together in the same online session, 50 minutes on Google Meet. It is for communication that keeps going wrong, feeling unheard, distance that has built up, recurring arguments, or deciding together how to move forward. If only one of you wants to attend, relationship and family guidance is the fitting option instead.

What these sessions look like

Sessions for couples who want to attend together, in the same conversation. We look at communication that keeps going wrong, the feeling of not being heard, the distance that has built up quietly over time, arguments that keep circling back to the same place, and the question of how you would like to move forward. This is different from relationship and family guidance, which is for one person working on their relationships alone.

This may suit you if

  • You both want to attend sessions together
  • Conversations turn into the same argument each time
  • Distance or silence has grown between you

Common questions

Couple Counselling, answered

Do both of us need to attend?
Yes. Couple counselling is for both partners in the same session. If you would rather come on your own, relationship and family guidance is the option for that.
How is this different from relationship and family guidance?
Relationship and family guidance is attended by one person working on their relationships. Couple counselling is attended by both of you together, so we can look at what happens between you as it happens.
Will you decide who is right?
No. The aim is to understand the pattern the two of you keep falling into, and to find better ways of speaking and listening inside it.
